About Us

Who We Are

The Kolbe Alliance for Conscience Rights is a Texas-based advocacy organization dedicated to protecting freedoms of conscience, expression, and belief from institutional pressure, professional retaliation, and governmental coercion.

We serve as a vital monitoring organization and resource for individuals, professionals, and communities who choose to act, speak, and live according to their sincerely held religious convictions in civic, governmental, and professional settings.

Our Namesake: The Witness of St. Maximilian Kolbe

Our mission and identity are deeply inspired by the heroic witness of St. Maximilian Kolbe, a Polish Franciscan friar and Catholic priest.

  • Sheltering the Vulnerable: Following the 1939 invasion of Poland, Father Kolbe operated a monastery that sheltered as many as 2,000 refugees, including Jews, before his eventual arrest and transfer to the Auschwitz concentration camp in 1941.
  • A Stand Against Coercion: Father Kolbe stands as a defining historical figure of faith triumphing over totalitarian coercion. When a fellow prisoner was condemned to death by starvation in reprisal for another’s escape attempt, Father Kolbe voluntarily stepped forward to take his place. The fellow prisoner had a family in the camp.
  • The Ultimate Defense of Dignity: He and his companions endured weeks of slow death in the starvation bunker of Block 11 rather than abandon his priestly vocation, compromise his love of neighbor, or surrender his pro-life conscience to the death-dealing authority of an oppressive regime. Canonized as a martyr by Pope John Paul II in 1982, his legacy anchors our daily commitment to defending human dignity and civil liberty against authoritarian overreach.

Our Core Mission & Focus

In consecration to St. Maximilian Kolbe’s sacred example, the Kolbe Alliance focuses on safeguarding the foundational protections that allow a free society to thrive without fear of government interference:

  • Defending Religious Freedom: Ensuring that constitutional guarantees of religious liberty protect not merely the private exercise of faith, but its public, civic, and conscientious expression.
  • Monitoring Institutional Overreach: Tracking and responding to instances where governmental or quasi-governmental actors use fear tactics, administrative penalties, or coercion to silence faith-based viewpoints.
  • Advocating for Accountability: Engaging with legislative bodies—such as the Texas Senate Select Committee on Religious Liberty—to ensure that constitutional protections like Article 1, Section 6 of the Texas Constitution are robustly enforced without exceptions or denominational favoritism.
